Sushi-making at Home: Kitchen Party

In this hands on class, join Kimiko Suzuki and learn how to make authentic plus modern Japanese homestyle sushi.  Kimiko will share secrets to making perfectly seasoned sushi rice, tasty sushi rolls and cones; as well as, traditional ‘pressed sushi’, with a beautiful presentation that delights both the eyes and the palate. We will discuss why restaurant miso soup is rarely the “real thing”, have a chance to taste various miso pastes, and create nourishing homemade miso soup with ‘dashi’ broth and hand chopped ingredients.

  • Miso soup with tofu and seasonal vegetables
  • Classic sushi rolls with spicy tuna (or Negitoro option for umami lovers)
  • Inside-out avocado rolls decorated with delicious locally smoked salmon, mango and avocado
  • Sushi cones
  • Tamago (egg) nigiri
  • Pressed Salmon sushi (beautiful square shape “oshi-zushi” with grilled salmon and thin sliced egg, in traditional wooden press mold)

Complimentary Edamame and Green Tea will be served and each participant will take home a sushi mat.

Japanese Kitchen Party

Learn to make a home-style Japanese meal and create your own fun kitchen party! As is common with casual Japanese meals, we’ll start off with lighter flavors and move into heavier ones, with rice to fill up at the end. This menu will impress your family and friends with mouth-watering food and a slice of Japanese culture.

  • Cucumber and wakame sunomono salad
    • authentic and refreshing salad
  • Pork Gyoza
    • crispy Japanese style pork dumpling using ground pork and lots of vegetables, note: a mushroom vegetarian option is available
  • Japanese style chicken wings
    • a party classic! juicy sweet and salty Japanese style chicken wings note: a tofu vegetarian option is available
  • Kimchi fried rice
    • spicy and delicious fried rice using kimchi, healthy fermented cabbage

Complimentary Edamame will be served.
Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate guest that do not eat wheat/gluten, soy, eggs, sesame, fish, shellfish, chestnuts. Please let us know if you require an alternative to the pork and chicken at the time of booking.

The Fine Print:

The standard price for any private party is $1290 (+tax) for the first 10 people and $99 (+tax) per person after that. The minimum charge for a private event is $1290 (+tax). The 3-hour event, which typically runs from 6-9pm, includes the chef, food costs, and staff. Any beverages would need to be supplied by you, for a self-service bar. If you prefer bar service (we serve you), we would need to take out a special occasion license, at an additional cost to you. Groups larger than 20 guests, will require additional rentals. Private Party Cancellation Policy:

  • A 50% deposit is required at time of booking, and is fully refundable up to 30 days before your event. The balance is due 48 hours prior to your event.
  • Half of the deposit is refundable, up to 14 days before your event. The deposit is non-refundable less than 14 days prior to your event.
  • If you need to change the date of your event you may do so once, for free, up to 14 days before your event. Any additional date changes will have a $100 charge. We are sorry, but we cannot accommodate date changes less than 14 days prior to your event.
  • Final number of guests is required 48 hours before your event (with no changes allowed following this time - if a guest is unable to attend within this period, please send somebody in their place)
