Authentic Tacos

Join Chef Luis Lopez and learn to make Authentic Tacos in this Mexican cooking class. You’ll use simple cooking techniques with fresh ingredients to create a taco feast completely from scratch. Press your own corn tortillas and create a variety of toppings. We serve dinner family style, meaning you can decorate your tacos, exactly how you like, with an abundance of bright, fresh, and perfectly spiced toppings.

Born and raised in Mexico, the evening will also be peppered with the history of the taco and stories from Chef Luis´ home country. Bring some cold ones or tequila, plus a friend, and get ready to have the time of your life at our Authentic Tacos class!

We will explore traditional Mexican tacos, making corn tortillas from scratch, using a tortilla press, and cooking some of Mexico’s most traditional tacos and famous sauces.

MENU:

  • Corn Tortillas (from scratch)
  • Mushroom and epazote tacos (Mushrooms and fresh herbs)
  • Tinga de Pollo tacos (Shredded chicken with chipotle sauce)
  • Carne asada tacos (Grilled steak)
  • Guacamole
  • Pico de gallo Sauce (fresh salsa)
  • Salsa Tatemada (grilled salsa)

*Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate guests that do not eat corn, cilantro, onion, garlic and some spice. We can accommodate vegetarian guests; but, no replacement will be provided for the chicken and beef tacos.

Mexican Seafood

Join Chef Luis Lopez in this Mexican Seafood cooking class. We will cook some of the most iconic dishes from the Mexican Pacific, including traditional shrimp and octopus ceviche, beer battered Baja fish tacos, and corn tortillas are going to be made from scratch too –  super fresh! Born and raised in Mexico, the evening will also be peppered with stories from Chef Luis´ home country. Bring some cold ones or tequila, plus a friend, and get ready to have the time of your life at our Mexican Seafood class!

  • Techniques we will learn:
    • Corn tortillas – make masa dough, using tortilla press
    • Seafood cookery: batter and fry fish, cook prawns and octopus
    • Ceviche – curing fish with citrus
    • Knife skills – fine dice of veggies for salsa
    • Roasting habanero chilies
    • Quick pickling veggies

  • Baja fish tacos
    • shrimp, fish and oyster fish tacos, beer batter and spicy coleslaw
  • Corn tortillas
    • making corn tortillas from scratch, easy and fun – no more dry, flavorless tortillas
  • Garlic sauce shrimp
    • a Mexican Pacific speciality, grilled and served with a garlic butter
  • Shrimp and Octopus Ceviche
    • learn how to cook octopus from scratch, a classic Mexican ceviche with a mild and hot sauce, ideal for a summer day, pairs well with a frosty light beer or a chilled white wine
  • Salsa Pico de Gallo
    • traditional sauce and making 2 different
  • Roasted Habanero sauce
    • from the Yucatan peninsula, a traditional Mayan recipe
  • Pickled onion
    • ideal for taco toppings, we make a spicy and mild version

The Fine Print:

The standard price for any private party is $1250 (+tax) for the first 10 people and $95 (+tax) per person after that. The minimum charge for a private event is $1250 (+tax). The 3-hour event, which typically runs from 6-9pm, includes the chef, food costs, and staff. Any beverages would need to be supplied by you, for a self-service bar. If you prefer bar service (we serve you), we would need to take out a special occasion license, at an additional cost to you. Groups larger than 20 guests, will require additional rentals. Private Party Cancellation Policy:

  • A 50% deposit is required at time of booking, and is fully refundable up to 30 days before your event. The balance is due 48 hours prior to your event.
  • Half of the deposit is refundable, up to 14 days before your event. The deposit is non-refundable less than 14 days prior to your event.
  • If you need to change the date of your event you may do so once, for free, up to 14 days before your event. Any additional date changes will have a $100 charge. We are sorry, but we cannot accommodate date changes less than 14 days prior to your event.
  • Final number of guests is required 48 hours before your event (with no changes allowed following this time - if a guest is unable to attend within this period, please send somebody in their place)
