What is the role?

As a chef instructor at Cook Culture, you are responsible for ensuring that our cooking classes and private events meet our service standards. You would teach hands on cooking classes up to a few times a month. It’s your job to leave a positive impression and delivering value, making sure that every guest gets the instruction and support promised at each event.

The typical cooking class team is made up of a chef instructor, a kitchen host who leads the retail and support team, and a few volunteers to assist the chef in preparation and clean-up. Your primary role is to teach both developed curriculum and create additional content. You will prepare your class menus and descriptions, develop your class hand-outs (recipes), shop, prep, and teach your cooking classes and special events. A typical class shift is 8 hours but can bit a bit less or a bit more.


Who are you?

You are a articulate, presentable, experienced cook, who has several years of varied knowledge. You are a strong oral communicator and have a proven track record of leading and training teams. You can deal well under pressure and are comfortable with being thrown a curve ball or two as you work. You are empathetic and love to please others, through food! You are particular about process, yet can roll with change. Is this you?

Please note: This is not teaching professional cooking classes. These are home styled cooking classes being taught to lay people.


Major Duties:
Shop, prep, and execute the cooking class/event
Interact with class guests, encouraging hands-on opportunities and retail sales
Guide the volunteers throughout the evening (including prep work and cleaning)
Write marketable and enticing class descriptions and menus
Complete accurate recipe hand-outs, which are information-packed and interesting


Minor Duties:
Help clean the kitchen at the end of the evening
Clean the stove top
Ensure Food safe practises are followed
