Flavours of the Persian Empire Cooking Class

Join us for a Persian Cooking Class at Cook Culture. This aromatic, rich, and healthy food has a history stretching back centuries and impresses itself on other cuisines across the globe. It is exotic but quite familiar. You can find all the ingredients at your local store: saffron, turmeric, beans, rice, fresh herbs, vegetables and fruits.

The interesting thing about Persian food is the play of flavours. There are lots of vibrant herbs and nuts – but the style remains very delicate. There are no chilies, and no overuse of spices. You will be accustomed to the basic ingredients, but they will be put together in a unique way that makes each dish really spectacular.

Our hands on cooking classes are set in a large communal teaching kitchen, which is similar to a home kitchen, just bigger! You will learn shoulder to shoulder from the instructor along with the other guests. After you learn to make the meal, everyone will sit together and enjoy the meal family style. In all of our classes, other than Knife Skills, you are welcome to bring your own beverages.

Loved the atmosphere! It was like cooking with family – interactive, questions answered, tips and pitfalls given for the recipes; as well as, explanations of how to handle an ingredient you may not be used to using. The instructor was very thorough, friendly as are the support staff. Browsing and shopping the store is always a treat, as well!

I would not classify myself as a ‘foodie’ – except that I like to eat. The class was my birthday gift to my sister and I accompanied her. I truly did not know what to expect and was very pleasantly surprised. The environment was pleasant and welcoming. Heidi, our host and her assistants were all approachable and friendly. Chef Megan, our instructor was great. She welcomed questions and gave us many hints. And the food was terrific! All in all, a very enjoyable, educational and tasty evening and definitely worth the price. Well done Cook Culture!
