Location: 377 Howe Street, Vancouver

 

Role Summary: In this role, you will work as both a Cooking Class Host and Retail Sales Associate. Your schedule will fluctuate based upon the store and cooking school requirements; however, you can expect to spend 4-6 shifts, per month, working at classes and 8 shifts per month, working in the store. Through the busy holiday retail season, we will be looking for a commitment to the retail aspect of the job, followed by the busy season in the cooking school, through March. You must be available to work evenings and weekends.

Cooking Class Host:

You act as Cook Culture’s liaison and are responsible for ensuring that our cooking classes and private events meet our service standards and leave a positive impression.

The typical cooking class team is made up of a Chef for the instruction, and a few Volunteers to assist the Chef in preparation and clean-up. Your primary role is to hands-on manage the event so that the team is best set up to meet our service standards.

Duties:
● Set up the kitchen and seating space for class events
● Train new volunteers
● Interact with class guests
● Facilitate the sale of product during the event
● Support the chef and volunteers throughout the evening (including prep work and
cleaning)
● Lead role in clean up and restaging post-event
● Close and secure the till and store at the end of class

Retail Sales Assistant:

You will learn how to apply our customer service standards on the sales
floor. It is expected that you will gain knowledge about our products and learn our POS system. You will be comfortable educating customers about our inventory, locating items, performing product demos, and selling our product range.

Expectations: You should have basic computer skills, be able to easily email and look up shared files. This role includes printing class recipes; as well as, emailing them to participants. You will also need to be comfortable registering guests for classes.
Note: Our facilities come in contact with all types of foods. We cannot guarantee there will be no cross-contamination. In this position, handling all types of food is a requirement.
